Dépaysement, voyages en France (Change of air, travels across France)
In his unclassifiable, both poetical and political, book, Jean-Christophe Bailly inquires about the French identity through travel. Dépaysement (disorientation, homesickness) is then what best defines the French identity which is open and variable, transformed by the past which modifies the terri-tory in an inexhaustible way. The author set himself a single rule of composition: “always go see the places that [he] feels the need to talk about.” He has come to speak to us about this experience and to read from his book.
