The Pueblo Indians in New Mexico, in the American Southwest, are fortunate to inhabit the land which was home to their ancestors before the arrival of the Conquistadors. They have resisted the Spanish, Mexican, and American powers which tried to govern them. They still dance to ensure favorable cosmic cycles, and their existence is thus inscribed in the present. Their policy of secrecy guarantees their survival.
